More places to check out my book from the library. The Bothell and Woodinville libraries are the King County libraries I use the most when I write. The only downside to writing there is the distraction from all those great books.

I visited a fourth grade class this week and talked about that characters in my book and how I developed their external and internal traits. The kids asked questions as always, but the teacher wanted to know if I had made any personal connections to my story. Students today are used to making personal connections to the text they read, but I hadn't given it a lot of thought. For The Cemetery Sleeper the most obvious connection...

I visited a third grade class at Lockwood Elementary recently and was surprised by how much the kids knew about the fundamentals of writing. In my book, The Cemetery Sleeper, I make a reference to a jack'o lantern mushroom which one of the characters uses to create a mask with "glowing" eyes. The mushrooms actually do glow at night.

Mushrooms with gills glowing in the night.

This is a review I really enjoyed because it was written by the kind of kid I like to have as my audience.
